What Is a PEB Structure?
A PEB structure is a steel building whose primary frame, secondary members, cladding and accessories are designed as one system and fabricated to those drawings before delivery. Everything arrives cut, drilled and marked. On site it gets bolted together rather than cut, welded and fitted.
PEB stands for pre engineered building. The name describes the method rather than the product. The engineering happens before fabrication, which is why the finished building uses less steel than a conventional one of the same span.
The primary frame is usually a tapered portal. Section depth varies along each member to follow the bending moment, so steel sits where the load actually is instead of being uniform throughout. That single principle is what separates a PEB structure from a conventional steel building assembled from standard hot rolled sections.
Secondary members, purlins and girts, carry the cladding and transfer load into the primary frame. Roof and wall sheeting, insulation, ventilators, skylights, gutters, doors and louvres complete the envelope. A lot of suppliers describe themselves as PEB structure manufacturers while buying in members and bolting them together on site. The difference shows up in ways buyers rarely see until years later.
Section sizing calculated against your actual loads rather than pulled from a standard table. Weld quality at every connection. Hole positions accurate enough that members bolt up square instead of being forced. Surface preparation before coating. Coating grade matched to the site. Fastener selection suited to the environment.
Get those right and the PEB structure simply works for decades. Get them wrong and you find out slowly, through rust at connections, sheeting that works loose, and leaks that worsen each monsoon.
That's why our fabrication happens at our own facility under controlled conditions. Dimensional accuracy is not something you can inspect after the building is up.

How a PEB Structure Compares With Conventional Steel
Both are steel buildings, and the difference matters when you're comparing quotes.
A conventional steel building uses standard hot rolled sections of uniform depth throughout each member. Simple to specify, widely available, and heavier than it needs to be, because the section has to suit the point of highest load along its whole length.
Pre engineered steel buildings use built up tapered sections fabricated to the moment diagram. Less steel for the same span, lighter foundations, and faster erection because everything is pre drilled and marked.
For wide spans the difference is substantial. For very small structures the economics narrow, and conventional sections sometimes make more sense. Our PEB structure manufacturers will tell you which suits your building rather than pushing one every time.
Why a PEB Structure Rather Than RCC
The comparison with concrete comes up on almost every project, so here it is plainly.
An RCC building is constructed in place. Formwork, reinforcement, pouring, then curing before anything can carry load. Wet weather stalls it repeatedly. A PEB structure is fabricated to drawings and bolted together on site, which takes most of that off the critical path.
Steel carries far more load per kilo of material than concrete. That gives longer clear spans with fewer columns, so you get more usable floor inside the same footprint. For a factory or warehouse that difference is the entire point. A column standing in a production line or a racking aisle costs you capacity every day the building stands.
Pre engineered steel buildings also stay adaptable. Bays can be added to the end. A mezzanine can go inside. Cladding can be changed, openings moved, and the whole PEB structure dismantled and re-erected elsewhere if the operation relocates. Once concrete has cured, the building is what it is.
Steel handles dynamic loads like overhead cranes more comfortably than concrete, because the frame is engineered as a system with the load path calculated rather than assembled from components. It is also one of the most recyclable materials in construction.
Where you need heavy thermal mass, particular acoustic performance, or a building form that doesn't suit a portal frame, conventional construction may serve better. We'll say so at the site visit rather than after.

Structural analysis and detailed drawings to the applicable IS codes, with wind loading calculated for the site. Every PEB structure gets drawings you can take to any consultant or authority.
Fabrication
Primary and secondary members made at our own facility, with dimensional checks before dispatch.
Surface Treatment
Preparation and coating to the specified system, matched to the site's exposure.
Erection
Assembly by our own team, sequenced to keep the site workable throughout. Cladding, accessories and finishing follow the frame.
Handover
Inspection against approved drawings, then handover with documentation and maintenance guidance.
